The Ladies Guild responds to requests to host several events thoughout the year at St. Peter's - Lay Eucharistic Ministry Training Sessions, Bishop's visits, Southwest District Retreats, Coffee Hours, etc. When it is St. Peter's turn to host one of the Ecumenical Lenten Services, we put on the coffee hour after the service.
We support the work of the parish financially by making a pledge to the parish. We earn money for our work by organizing a sale of crafts, books, attic treasures, baked goods, and plants on the Saturday of the Dogwood Festival in Dansville. We also sell grilled hotdogs (both red and white hots), coffee, and lemonade to participants in the Lawn and Craft sale in the church park, and to those returning from the parade on Main Street. Our Christmas Bazaar also generates some money (as well as Holiday Cheer and Goodies.)
Our mission work is done locally. We contribute to the food pantry (and members volunteer there), and we participate in Dansville's Project Christmas by providing food and clothing gifts to those families assigned to us. Our members also volunteer at the local hospital, the Red Cross, the Blood Bank, as election workers, and they visit shutins. The Sunshine Chairperson makes sure members get cards on Holidays and their birthdays. She also sends cards to parishioners in times of illness.
Any adult woman in St. Peter's is automatically a member of the Ladies Guild.
